Depending on the snow gun, your setup can use a garden hose or a pressure washer to supply water, along with an air compressor.
When everything comes together under the right conditions, the water freezes and falls to the ground as real snow.
How Cold Does a Snow Machine Need It to Be?
Temperature isn't the only thing that matters.
Snowmaking depends on wet-bulb temperature, which accounts for both temperature and humidity. Generally, colder and drier conditions are better for making snow.
That's why a 25°F night with low humidity can be very different from a 25°F night with high humidity.

How Much Snow Can a Snow Machine Make?

How much snow you make depends on your snow gun, water flow, weather conditions, and how long you run your system.
With pressure-washer snowmaking systems, increasing water flow can dramatically increase snow production.
For example, our Forecaster Snow Gun can use multiple pressure washers and handle up to 6 GPM of water flow. That means you can start with a smaller setup and expand it when you want to make more snow.
What Do You Need to Make Snow at Home?
A typical home snowmaking setup is surprisingly simple.
You'll need a snow gun, a water source, an air compressor, and the appropriate hoses and connections.
Some snow guns also require a pressure washer.
