Making real snow might sound complicated. There is a lot that has to happen for water to become snow, and getting consistent results requires more than simply spraying water into cold air.

At Backyard Snowstorm, we’ve spent years researching, testing, and building snowmaking equipment specifically for the backyard. Our goal is simple: take professionally engineered snowmaking technology and make it accessible to anyone who wants to make real snow at home.

Our snow guns are designed for residential and small commercial use, using quality components and carefully selected nozzles, fittings, filters, and other equipment to create an efficient snowmaking system.

What Makes a Snow Gun Work?

A snow gun has one job: turn water into snow.

To do that effectively, the water needs to be broken into properly sized droplets and mixed with air in a way that allows ice crystals to form. Backyard Snowstorm snow guns use specialized misting nozzles along with a commercial nucleation nozzle designed to optimize ice crystal formation and snow production.

The snow guns also use components designed specifically for snowmaking, including stainless steel misting nozzles, high-pressure water filters, specialized internal components, quick-connect fittings, and air check valves.

These components work together as a system rather than as individual pieces.

Designed for the Backyard

Commercial snowmaking equipment can be large, complicated, and expensive. Backyard Snowstorm was created with a different goal: make real snowmaking practical for homeowners.

Our snow guns are designed to work with equipment that homeowners can purchase and use, including standard pressure washers and air compressors that meet the required specifications. The Little Cloud is even designed to operate from a standard garden hose without a pressure washer.

This means you don't need a commercial snowmaking operation to make real snow.

You need the right snow gun, the right equipment, and the right conditions.

Three Snow Guns. Three Levels of Snowmaking.

We currently offer three snow guns designed around different snowmaking needs.

Little Cloud

The Little Cloud is our entry-level snow gun and the simplest way to get started.

It uses a standard garden hose instead of a pressure washer and requires an air compressor. Its water flow is fixed, making it a straightforward option for smaller areas and beginner snowmakers.

Forecaster

The Forecaster is our standard residential snow gun and is designed for the majority of backyard snowmakers.

It works with pressure washers in the appropriate flow range and is built to be expandable. You can start with one pressure washer and add additional pressure washers later to increase your water flow and snow output.

That expandability is an important part of the design. You don't have to build your biggest snowmaking system on day one.

Cold Front

The Cold Front is built for higher-output snowmaking and small commercial applications.

Like the Forecaster, it is designed to be expandable and can handle higher water flow. This gives serious snowmakers the ability to build a larger system as their needs grow.

Engineered to Grow With You

One of the biggest advantages of the Forecaster and Cold Front is that your snowmaking system doesn't have to stay the same.

Both snow guns are designed to work with multiple pressure washers. You can start with a single pressure washer and add additional units later to increase your total water flow and snow output.

Backyard Snowstorm offers specially engineered train packages and expansion equipment to make this possible. These systems use engineered manifolds, properly sized check valves, durable hoses, and secure quick-connect fittings to safely combine multiple pressure washers.

Start small. Make more snow later.

That's the idea behind an expandable snowmaking system.

Everything Designed to Work Together

A snow gun is only one part of a snowmaking system.

That's why Backyard Snowstorm offers complete snowmaking packages with the hoses, fittings, nozzles, filters, and other components needed to connect your equipment and get started.

For example, our Forecaster packages include the appropriate nozzle options, water filtration, cold-weather hoses, fittings, and other components needed for the setup.

We also offer accessories and expansion equipment for customers who want to build or modify their systems over time.

The goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible.

Professional Engineering Without the Commercial Complexity

Backyard snowmaking shouldn't require you to design your own snow gun from scratch.

You shouldn't have to figure out which nozzles work together, how to connect multiple pressure washers, or which components are appropriate for high-pressure water and air.

That's what we've done for you.

We've spent years developing snow guns and systems specifically for backyard snowmaking. The result is equipment designed around the way homeowners actually make snow—with components selected to work together and systems that can grow as your snowmaking goals grow.

Whether you're making your first pile of snow with a Little Cloud or building a high-output system around a Cold Front, the goal is the same: make real snow and make it successfully.

Built for People Who Want to Make Snow

You don't need to be a professional snowmaker to use professionally engineered equipment.

That's what Backyard Snowstorm is all about.

We believe anyone can make real snow in their backyard, and we've built our products to make that possible.

From the simple Little Cloud to the expandable Forecaster and high-output Cold Front, there's a snow gun designed for where you are today—and, with our expandable systems, where you want to go tomorrow.

Professionally engineered for the backyard. Built to make snow.
